REDEVELOPMENT AND REFURBISHMENT OF CASTLEWOOD HOUSE
Welcome to the website for the redevelopment and refurbishment of Castlewood House and Medius House on New Oxford Street, being brought forward by Royal London Asset Management (RLAM).
Our proposals for the site were granted planning permission in May 2017 following two years of public consultation, which included three separate public exhibitions, as well as a presentation at a council-run Development Management Forum (DMF). The plans will create a stunning new office building in place of Castlewood House, along with new public routes and spaces linking Fitzrovia to Covent Garden, flanked by shops, cafes and restaurants. In addition, the retention and refurbishment of Medius House will ensure the delivery of new affordable homes, while retaining its Grade II-listed façade.
Since October 2019, Deconstruct UK has been undertaking demolition works at both Castlewood House and Medius House to prepare the sites for the main phase of construction. We are delighted to announce that these works are now complete and Skanska, one of the UK’s leading contractors, has been appointed to carry out this next stage. Skanska is anticipated to begin on site in June 2021 with a programme of works that will see both sites complete by Q1 2023.
